Kirkland Family Dentistry offers flexible payment options and access to quality dental care
Dental insurance can mean the difference between getting the dental care you need and risking long-term issues related to your oral health. Many people don’t have dental insurance, but we want to ensure that as many people as possible have access to the dental care they need to be healthy and happy.
At Kirkland Family Dentistry, we are proud to accept nearly all forms of insurance, and we’ll work with you to ensure that you get the most benefit from your insurance coverage. As with any dental insurance, you should plan to pay a portion of the overall cost of any treatment or procedure that is above and beyond traditional prevention and examinations. X-rays, tests, special procedures, and lab work may all cost money above what your insurance company is willing to pay.
It’s important to understand dental insurance has limitations, and not all procedures and treatments are covered. Call your insurance provider if you have questions about your dental insurance coverage.
What if Kirkland Family Dentistry Doesn’t Accept My Insurance?
It is unlikely that your insurance provider is not on our list of accepted dental insurance policies. It’s essential to check the status of your insurance policy to find out if it is part of a preferred provider organization (PPO) or health maintenance organization (HMO).
If you are part of a PPO, you can choose the dentist that best suits your needs. If you are part of an HMO dental plan, you will have to work with a dentist that falls under their insurance plan. Call our office to determine if we are part of your HMO group. You are welcome to use our dental office in Kirkland, WA, under an HMO that is not part of our insurance offerings, but you should expect a higher co-pay if you utilize a dentist who is out of the approved network.

What is Covered as Part of my Dental Insurance?
Your insurance company is the best source of information related to what procedures and treatments are covered. In some instances, our staff can pre-approve your dental treatments so that you know ahead of time what is covered and what is not, but it is the responsibility of the patient to understand their insurance policy and what is covered. A quick call to your insurance company will help clear up any confusion about your coverage. Some questions to ask your insurance company may include:
- What dentist is approved for treatment?
- Are there any payment caps or limitations I should be aware of?
- Do I need to wait a while before I can access my dental benefits?
- Does my insurance cover crowns, veneers, or other cosmetic dental procedures?
- What happens during a dental emergency?
- What is considered a dental emergency?
- Does all dental work need to be pre-authorized?
- Do I have to pay out of pocket and get reimbursed later?
If your insurance does not cover the recommended treatment or procedure as prescribed by our professional dentists, our team will work with you to devise a payment plan that will allow you to gain access to the treatment you need to maintain good oral health.
Avoid Dental Emergency Delays
It’s a good idea to understand how your insurance company treats dental emergencies and what may be covered in the event of an emergency. You don’t want to be worrying about whether or not you can afford the necessary treatment when you are in pain. Contact your insurance provider to find out the protocol for dental emergencies and what is covered.
